What is this vent hole mentioned for my four ring EC probe?

Proper probe submersion will help you avoid erratic and/or inaccurate readings.

Four ring probes require more sample for complete submersion than two electrode probes. The vent hole on four ring probes is a small hole further up on the body of the probe. Check that the vent hole is covered by your standard or sample.
